Wildcat Weekly for 12-19-08

UMA Jazz Band to Visit

On Friday, January 9th, the University of Maine at Augusta Jazz Band will be visiting Sebasticook for the day. They will be working/practicing with the Sebasticook and Somerset Jazz Bands during the morning, and in the afternoon all three bands will be performing for the student body. Parents are welcome to stop by for the assembly beginning at 1:00 PM.

SVMS Teams Remain Undefeated

The A-Teams and B-Teams go into the Christmas Break undefeated in the Penquis League. Both boys’ teams resume play on January 5th as they travel to Milo to play the Penquis Patriots. On Tuesday, January 6th, all four teams take the court against Dexter – the A-Teams are hosting and the B-Teams are traveling.

Sports Boosters Need Help

Help is needed at the admission table and the snack shack. There is a sign-up sheet in the lobby for those who can help – PLEASE fill in your name. If you have questions, call Mr. Crockett. If volunteers do not come forward, the snack shack may have to close.

Backordered Candles

Linda Parady will be delivering any backorder/missing candles next Tue. or Wed. to individual homes. If you have questions, please call her at 453-9805.


Food Bank Collections a Success

SVMS collected $155.86 for the Good Shepherd Food Bank in Brewer. This translates to $1937.50 worth of food that will be sent to the Newport and Corinna Food Cupboards.

Wildcat Weekly for 12-5-08

Basketball Season Has Begun
The Wildcats began their 2008-09 season very successfully as all four team have not lost at this early point. The B-Teams, both boys and girls, won easily this past week against Dexter. Today they host Central at 3:30. The A-Teams have had little trouble with their opponents by defeating Dexter and Greenville this week. Today they travel to Central for a 3:30 game.
Congratulations to a successful beginning and may your winning ways continue.

A Writing and Art Display Comes to SVMS
Kate Dodson and Taylor Gould, seniors at Nokomis Regional High School will be displaying their works in the Sebasticook Library on the evening of December 12th. Kate, an outstanding artist, and Taylor, an exceptional writer, will offer their works for public display during the evening and will be here to host the event.

Student Council News
The Student Council will be participating in the Coats for Kids program again this year. Please bring in any gently used coats that can go to others in need. These will be collected until December 12th.

Change for the World
You can find cans at the school store, office, and each classroom for your change to help the local food pantries. The school’s Civil Rights Team is working with the Good Shepherd Organization and they can turn each of our dollars into $12.50 worth of food which will go to the surrounding towns. Change will be collected until December 12th.

Don’t forget “Coats for Kids” – Bring any reusable coats until December 12th.
