Wildcat Weekly for 9/17/10

Fly Tying Class

The Newport Cultural Center is sponsoring Fly Tying classes for all age groups. The classes will start September 27 at 6 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. Classes will take place in the Cultural Center Conference Room. The classes will be held each Monday night until October 25. There will be no classes on Columbus Day. The registration fee is $25.00 and covers all materials that are used. Those who are interested in attending class must pre-register at the Cultural Center no later than September 23. Space is limited to 12. For more information contact Gene Staffiere at 368-2193.


Picture Day

School pictures will be taken September 29. Envelopes will be sent home the Monday before. Information regarding prices and package selections is attached to this newsletter.


Welcome

Please welcome Matt O’Connell to our school! He is replacing Mr. Dominick and will be teaching 8th grade Math.


Rec Soccer

Any 5th or 6th grader who missed the Newport Recreation Soccer Signups, it’s not too late! Please call Angela Kelby ASAP at 313-0425 if you are interested.



Soccer/Football/Field Hockey

The results of the games this week were:

  • Boys A soccer—2 losses
  • Girls A soccer—1 tie, 1 win
  • Field Hockey—2 wins
  • Football 2 losses.

The schedule for next week is as follows: field hockey—home against Dexter Tuesday, home against Sedomocha Thursday and at Orono Friday; soccer—at Hichborn on Thursday and home against Orono on Friday (B team only); football—home against Old Town Tuesday. Team pictures for all sports will be taken on Wednesday.


Newport Cultural Center

The Newport Cultural Center will be sponsoring its annual 5k Road Race Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run on Saturday, September 18. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the Cultural Center. The Fun Run will begin at 10 a.m. and the 5k will begin at 10:30. There will be free t-shirts for the first 25 who register. Awards will be given to top finishers overall and by age group. Mon—chick parm

Tues—sheperds pie

Wed—ham hoagie

Thurs—breaded chick.

Fri—Pizza

Toasted cheese sandwiches (starting Monday) are a second choice each day.

Wildcat Weekly for 9/10/10

Dance

The Sports Boosters will be sponsoring a dance tonight, September 10, for grades 6-8 from 7-9 p.m. Admission is $5.00.


Open House

Open House will be Tuesday, September 14 from 6-7 p.m.


Show Chorus

Tryouts for Show Chorus will be held on Wednesday, September 15th from 3-5 p.m. Those wanting to audition can either stay after school or have someone bring them to school during that time. Transportation home after the tryouts needs to be provided. If you want to try out but cant make it during that time, please leave your name in the office.

Title IA

Mrs. Curtis and Mrs. Guesman from the Title IA reading program, and Mr. Curtis from Title IA math program will be at Open House.

B teams—won; field hockey—won; and our football team also won their game this week. The schedule for next week is as follows: Soccer—at Central on Monday, home vs. Sedomocha Wednesday, and at Greenville on Friday. Field Hockey—at PCMS Monday, home vs. Hermon Tuesday, and home vs. Central on Thursday. Football—home vs. Bangor on Tuesday.
