Wildcat Weekly for 2-27-09

MEA’s are Upon Us
Beginning next week, students will be taking the Maine Educational Tests. Since every grade at Sebasticook must participate, each class will have their own schedule throughout the three-week testing window. The staff encourages all students to get a good night’s sleep, '''arrive at school on time''', and to do their best on each and every portion.

DANCE Tomorrow Night
Saturday night, February 28th, there will be a Dance Party at Sebasticook Valley Middle School beginning at 7:00 PM. Students in grades 6-8 are invited to join the fun in this Mardi Gras Event where the first 50 students get a free mask. Admission is $5.00 or a VIP Pass.


Show Chorus to Compete
Sebasticook Show Chorus travels to Bangor High School to compete in the district competition and hopefully qualify for the States. They will be leaving about 2:30 PM on March 5th and will compete at 5:55 PM. '''GOOD LUCK ! !'''


Eighth Graders Invited to a Play at Nokomis
The eighth graders will be going to Nokomis on next Wednesday and Friday at 1:00 - half one day and half the next. Greg Mihalik's English students have written and directed the one act play that the students will be seeing.


Jazz Band Qualifies for States
The Sebasticook Jazz Band under the direction of Mr. Jack Clifford, traveled to Skowhegan to compete in the District Competition. Their performance has led them to the State Competition at Nokomis High School on March 28th.


Wildcat Cheerleaders take Another First
The Sebasticook cheerleaders traveled Corinth on Saturday, February 14th to compete in the Penquis League Cheering Competition. They took another first place to go along with the first place finish in Augusta the week before. '''Congratulations to our Wildcat Cheering Team for a very successful year!'''

Lady Wildcats are League Champions
Last Saturday, the girl’s A-Team won the Penquis League Championship by defeating Dexter. Congratulations to our Lady Wildcats and to Coach April Crockett for an undefeated season and winning Penquis League Championship!!!


Jazz Band Makes States
The Sebasticook Jazz Band under the direction of Mr. Jack Clifford, traveled to Skowhegan to compete in the District Competition. Their performance has led them to the State Competition at Nokomis High School on March 28th.

Wildcat Cheerleaders take First Place!
The Sebasticook cheerleaders traveled to the Augusta Civic Center last Sunday and finished first in their division at the Capital Competition. GEAT JOB CHEERLEADERS!!! This Saturday they travel to Corinth to compete in the league competition.
GOOD LUCK Cheerleaders – KEEP UP THE GREAT PERFORMANCES!!!

Jazz Competition Next Wednesday
Next Wednesday, the Sebasticook Jazz Band under the direction of Mr. Jack Clifford, travel to Skowhegan to compete in the District Competition.  Performance time for the band is at 3:00 PM, and they will be leaving school at noon. Good luck to our fine musicians!!!  

Championship Games Saturday

The girls and boys A-Teams are in the Penquis League Championship games on Saturday at Nokomis Regional High School.  At Nokomis, the Lady Wildcats play the Dexter Tigers at noon, and the boys play Penquis of Milo at 2:00 PM.  GOOD LUCK to our Wildcat girls and boys basketball teams as they compete once again for another CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

Wildcat Cheerleaders to Compete
The Sebasticook cheerleaders will be competing at the Capital Cheering Challenge at the Augusta Civic Center on Sunday.  The bus leaves the school at 11:30 AM.  Next Saturday, the cheerleaders travel to Corinth to compete in the Central Middle School Cheering Challenge.

Used Book Drive
The Student Council is sponsoring a used book drive, and they will be on sale during the first part of February.  All funds raised will go to the grade level contributing the books.  Children’s paperbacks will be 50 cents, chapter books 75 cents, and hardcover books will be $1.00.  This is a great way to thin out those books that you are done with.

Reeling in the Box Tops
Sebasticook is participating in Box Tops for Education and will continue collecting until the February Vacation.  Box Tops are turned in each Thursday morning but can be brought in any day.  Help the school reach its goal of $1,000 this year.  Also, remember to log onto the boxtops4education.com website for coupons, contests (chance to win up to 10,000 box tops immediately) recipes, and other information.

Wildcat Weekly for 1-30-09

Make-Up Week Begins
Students who did not complete their work during the second quarter or have unacceptable grades, will be required to attend make-up sessions scheduled for the first week of February, 2nd through the 6th. Those make-up sessions will begin at 2:30 PM and go to 5:00 PM all week. Bus transportation will be available.

A-Team Tournament Begins Monday
The girls and boys A-Teams begin tourney play on Monday at Sebasticook. The girls play at 5:30 and the boys play at 7:00 PM. Their opponents will be determined when play-off games are completed. If the teams get by the quarterfinals, the semis are scheduled for Wednesday night, 5:30 and 7:00 PM at Nokomis, and the championship games will be next Saturday, February 7th at Nokomis as well. The girls will play at noon and the boys at 2:00 PM.

B-Teams Play in Round Robin
The boys and girls B-Teams will be participating and an end-of-year Round Robin this Saturday, January 31st, at Somerset. The girls will be playing at 9:00 and 11:00 AM, and the boys play at 10:00 AM and noon.
Congratulations to our girls and boys B-Teams for their undefeated season, and good luck Saturday at the Round Robin.
